I Heart Beard Papa Cream Puffs So Very Much
What do you think of when you see this face? I think YES!!! I am so close to a BEARD PAPA'S!!!
Damn, I had a Beard Papa's cream puff the other day, because my friend and I were downtown and I learned she had never tried a Beard Papa, nor did she know what it was. Shock horror! Going through life without trying this treat is a travesty! Let me just say it is a GREAT thing I don't live closer to one of their shops. I would weigh 700 pounds. I LOVE THEM. Which is interesting because I don't love hardly any sweets or dessert things.
If you don't know who this Beard Papa is- it's a Japanese chain store that mercifully graced the U.S. with a few stores a couple years back, with more stores coming. Their specialty is fresh-baked cream puffs, filled to order with divinely decadent vanilla bean pudding. Since they're baking puffs all day, they are never anything less than perfectly fresh, and since they're filled to order, the pastry never gets soggy.
So it looks like this when you get it... you know, stealthily hiding the deliciousness within...
And then you take a bite, and... HEAVEN!
You can get chocolate on them but just don't. As with KFC, the original recipe is the best.
I had them in Tokyo as well, and to my palate they tasted the exact same- they haven't changed the formula. Which is great because I also LOVE continuity and having my expectations met or exceeded.
