I grew up right near Cole Valley, and my parents still live there- so I have been going to some of these restaurants on and off for-literally-ever. I think that gives me full license to judge.

a real neighborhood hangout

giant and juicy,
burgers and fries are the bomb.
milkshakes are great too

I'm not into crepes,
but if you are, it's as good
as any. bit drafty
