Day 5.5: No White Food Diet
So I'm well into Day 6 of this process and it's still going OK. Last night I seemed to have come down with a cold or flu. I suspect it's unrelated to the dietary changes. All in all, I'd say there are more positives than negatives, so that's great!

- I made this Broccoli Pesto yesterday and am still enjoying it on toast today.
- I found a crazy super grainy bread (Ezekiel's) which is really tasty.
- I am excited to try a Guy Savoy overnight Macaroni and Cheese recipe even though I have to use brown rice pasta.
- Commenters Cat and Robin had lots of good suggestions about using xylitol and what sweets to get, if I need a sweet fix any time soon.
- Have mostly switched from coffee to tea! Feel virtuous.
- I went to Book Club Wednesday night, and a Valentine's Party Thursday night, and had no drinks or sweets even though very tempted. (Homemade cookies and ice cream at Book Club- ouch!)
- I definitely feel that when eating something whole grain, eg bread or pasta, I need to eat less to feel full and I feel full for longer afterwards. This is a big deal because I'm usually hungry all the time. Also seems good because I end up eating less in total .
Lowlights:
- We allowed ourselves 1 alcoholic drink last night since we were out at a restaurant for Valentine's Day. I'm going to say lowlight because it's our first willful act of cheating. It was nice, but not necessary.
- Whole wheat flax penne pasta we tried was pretty gross.
- I tried to make pork gravy with whole wheat flour but it wasn't quite right- weird texture. Tasted OK though.
- So far I think skin is looking worse, not better...
