Beijing to Ban Disposable Chopsticks?
I just read this Wall Street Journal article about how Beijing wants to ban disposable chopsticks to help the environment.
They're trying to start a "BYOC" (Bring Your Own Chopsticks) trend- in hindsight, I wish I had B'ed my own C's more than a few times in China.
While I laud their environmental efforts, I had a private chuckle because I'd like to say- we noticed that there are a lot of restaurants in China that are already recycling disposable chopsticks. And by"recycling" I mean they are rinsing them off, putting them back in the paper sleeve, and passing them off as new and clean when they have clearly been used. *shudder* But hey, we're still alive- unless of course we have some long-gestating dormant Chinese bug that lives deep within our cells and is slowly eating us from the inside out or something...

Glad I didn't know this when we were in China.
