One More Thing To Check Off The Life List
Yesterday my friend Sasha and I honored Labor Day by cooking a whole 30 lb. pig on a spit, fulfilling a lifelong dream of cooking a whole 30 lb. pig on a spit. I would love to tell you all about it, but I am in a post-pork coma.
It was a rather involved and lengthy affair so I will have to take some time to weave the tale of the noble pig who gave his life for deliciousness, and the tidal waves of emotions that accompanied the endeavor. From a twine-burn-induced frustration borne of attempting to truss the damn thing to a giant metal rod, to the elation and chest-swelling pride of that first tasty morsel, there was much learning, camaraderie, and of course, eating.
Also since my camera was stolen by United Airlines and I haven't had time to get a new one yet, I am dependent on the kindness of others to share their pictures with me, so I can share them with you. So stay tuned, unless the idea of looking at pictures of a pig in various stages of culinary repose grosses you out.
