Super Fun with Social Studies!
(Cheese Souffle + Aldo and Sean from Social Studies Design)
My friends Aldo and Sean were in town from LA this weekend for Maker Faire, so we invited them over with 2 other friends, Roberto and Marianne. Aldo and Sean have a sweet indie clothing line for men called Social Studies Design, which I used to rep at my boutique. Their clothes are one of only 2 things that makes me wish I were a man sometimes. (The other is ease of peeing in the outdoors.) They brought over their chihuahuas, Cooper Sanchez and Chichi Rodriguez. It was kind of a breakthrough night because Chichi has never liked me and we finally bonded a bit (by which I mean, there were about 30 minutes where she didn't actively try to kill/bite/maim me.)

Aldo & Sean designed this t-shirt with their dogs on it for my MailboxTees. The caption says "Chichi, have you seen my balls?"
Sean is quite a great cook and super interested in all things food, so I told him he could request I make something that he loves to eat but doesn't know how to make himself. Sure enough I got a text message the morning of the event saying simply: "Souffle. It baffles me." I really like these guys, AND they make me life-changing mixed CDs, so I was obligated to do it. My mom had made an easy version of a cheese souffle at her house, from a recipe of unknown provenance, and passed on the recipe to me, which I had never made. It was indeed easy, and delicious.
The night ended with Sean and I going through my crazy overloaded accordion file of old recipes gleaned from various restaurants, and he went home with a good deal of new project ideas- lucky for Aldo!
we ate: London Broil, Easy Cheese Souffle, and Green Salad w/ Homemade Croutons
dessert: leftover Somewhat Homemade Ice Cream Cake
