Sisterly Sojourn in SOMA
(dinner and drinks out + my sisters and Roberto)
My sisters (and Roberto, "the 4th sister" as he likes to be called) took me out for a belated birthday dinner and drinks last night and there are a couple of salient things that must be pointed out as a result. The first point is that Marghi, Betsy, and Roberto are hilarious but that's basically known throughout town already.
The second point (and the one which you may find a tad more useful) is that Azie still has some of the best drinks in SF and it's almost never crowded. The Ginger Rogers, which involves some mysteriously delicious combination of gin, ginger syrup, ginger ale, and mint, is always a hit. And their Pomegranate Kiss is like a super terrific juicy cosmo.
The third point is that although overall I'd have to give Oola a rating of "pretty good", not "fantastic", they did have one thing that completely won me over. Roberto ordered the fried chicken, which was a special, and it came with a WHOLE RAMEKIN OF GRAVY. Delicious, delicious gravy. A full-sized ramekin. People, pay attention. That's how it should be done. Restaurants should focus on facilitating and promoting such manifold gravy-dipping possibilities.
